Mega premiere on our YouTube and soundcloud channels for this ace new chugger by Jack Pattern.
12″ is out this Friday via our homies at Cosmic Pint Glass!
Deep and dark, residing in the zone where EBM and techno dwell. Various remixes of Black Light Smoke tracks on their Death Decay Magic imprint, all versions keep it down to the nitty gritty.
Choice pics for us are Black Smoke’s own off kilter remix of ‘Your Own Hands and techno legend The Hacker’s stripped down version of ‘Lines’. Check my show on Mutant Radio this week (14th April) for previews on both of these.

Group Rhoda – Passing Shades
Dark and foreboding synthwave from Group Rhoda, the solo project of Mara Barenbaum. Channeling some Grace Jones vibes in this one, over skittering unprocessed 808 beats and deep pentatonic analogue bass lines. A good exercise in pop reductionism.

Antenna – Alejandro / Wuthering
Perhaps Kate Bush and Lady Gaga cover versions may be unexpected on the pages of Flatland Frequencies but our long time favourite Antenna has done an excellent job with these reimaginings. Trademark crunchy lo-fi 909 beats fuse with crystal cold digital chords making an irresistible package that sits somewhere on the intersection of coldwave, techno and house music. This self-released EP is available through Bandcamp as a pay what you feel download.
Some classic tracks almost don’t see the light of day. This track was recorded in 1981 but wasn’t released until 2009. To modern ears, sounding like a crazy Donkey Kong arcade bass over a raw jacking house beat, Video Crash mixed with industrial rock. But who was Carol?
Elisa Waut – Russia
Originally released in 1982 on a self-released single-sided cassette album this track is as cold as they come. Elisa Waut was a Belgian band, from Bruges, and was centered around brother and sister Hans and Elsje Helewaut.
