Datassette – Void Fill Product

Bandcamp: Out Now

16 tracks of pure dopeness from Datassette on this self-released LP via bandcamp.

Treading the line between the bizarre and the melodic, this LP holds it together. Although some of Datassettes ‘tune dumps’ on bandcamp in the past have been equally, if not more substantial in volume, this one has a commonality between the tunes. Obscure vocal snippets, interesting 808 patterns and great riffs are the threads that run throughout.

In his own words: “Spanning 5 years, 80% of the works here are one-shot stereo recordings of hardware jams, usually to tape, sometimes with collaborators. Hitting record as soon as some elements sound interesting, experimenting for half an hour or so, then editing together all the highlights. This way of working means no over-engineering and no undo, like writing in black sharpie. You behave differently when you’re making permanent marks.”
