On the surface, Rocky Jones may appear to be a bit of a one-hit wonder, on Discogs this 1987 track is listed as his only single. But his influence on the history and evolution of House music is much greater than a quick glance at his discography may indicate.
Rocky Jones was the owner of DJ International Records, one of the two labels, along with Trax Records, that were largely responsible for the explosion of house music in the late 80’s. Rocky Jone’s name appears as producer on countless of the hottest house releases of that era, making him truly an influential, but rarely mentioned, figure in the sound that shaped a new generation.
